Unit 13 saturday 18th

What a great day for a skate, sun splitting the stones and all that so we decided to head indoors to unit 13 in Belfast! This was arranged before we knew about the weather and it was Neil's first trip to the park. We skated 'till the old legs and lungs let us know we were at our limit - probably about an hour, but an hour well spent none the less. Lets do this again soon and hopefully we will have Scott back as well.

Unit 13

Here is a couple of pics of the current set up at unit 13. As you can see they didnt bowl out the end of the bigger mini but it is great being longer than before. There are two minis of different sizes now and spines a pump bump and a nice big quarter. A lot more flow than before. Click on the pics for a closer look. When can we expect a visit?

Well Bushy was freezing today, but to my surprise there was no frost. It must be about a month since I've had a chance to get a skate and to get Bushy to myself was a real treat. It's just a shame you guys where not there to join in on the fun. I only stayed about an hour and had a great roll around. With any luck we'll all have a chance to get together soon for a skate before Christmas. Hope the head is better Kenny we'll hook up next time. Did you get a chance to hit Unit 13 Eamon?

Weather 1 skating 0
Dublin sucks. How come we don't have an in door park? Is this the and of skating for the winter months already? We got to get up to Unit 13 for a good indoor session on wood. But i'm stuck in work for the next few weeks but i'd love to get up there before Christmas is any one up for it?

Just an update from north of the border. Today I went to unit13 to check on progress in the park and a GENTLE roll around to try and sort out my gammy knee. The guys have worked wonders in a week and have the small mini with spine, bank, roll in and extension finished. The bigger mini is nearly done and will have a bowled end added. The big quarter is finished, this leads to a volcano/bank and on to a large wall ride leading into the bowled mini. Hopefully next week will see all the ramps finished, its gonna be the best layout yet with lots of flow and ramps from abot 3 foot to the big wall ride maybe 10 foot.Check the pics or check on http://www.bogginzine.com/ for a virtual tour. Also some more good news - the concept bowl in the city centre is open again.

Kenny welcome to Old dogs old tricks, How was day one? I know it take a while but if you stick at it you'll love it. Once we get you into the ramps it'll blow your mind. Keep up the good work you'll get it.

Just a couple of pics of Scott and Neil at Bushy a couple of weeks ago...sometimes we get lucky but mostly we suffer from shutter delay and miss the action.

Well I got to skate the new setup at unit13 in Belfast and I must say it has a few new lines, there is a new line between two big 8 foot quarters with a volcano to bank inbetween, kinda reminded me on the old ramp city in dublin a bit except this is a lot faster. There may be more changes on the way too. I even managed to break a kingpin today so it brought my session to an early end, can't wait to try again. Next weekend should be a big weekend at the park as the meltdown fundraiser is happening for details click on the poster on an earlier post.

Lets hope the weather holds for tomorrow as Scott says and we'll see if we can persuade our old corpses round the bowl at bushy. Meanwhile check out the events poster for a meltdown weekend at unit 13 in Belfast if anyone is interested, it looks like a good one!

As you might of noticed we now have the pleasure of Eamon as an author for the blog which is great seeing that he was always one of our best sources of info and links.Welcome aboard buddy love your posting keep up the good work.

The Solvang skate park looks like a carvers Paradise. It must be great to skate a park with some much flow and an endless amount of lines.Try the links we have posted on the site. Two of them are for groups for older skaters in America and the UK witch are very good. Old Man Army is a great forum with lots of vids and pics posted. They also hold regular skate jams throughout the year well worth a trip. We'd love to post any pics or comments anyone has so drop us a line and we'll see if we can post them.

Well Sunday has come and gone and that make us sad, another two weeks until our next group outing, that's too long to wait we'll have to try and sneak out before than. The sun split the heaven but from 11 till 12 Bushy was dead, not a soul in the place witch is weird but thanks to two BMX'ers from up north we had someone to hang with.So that meant lots of carve time for us.SO fingers crossed the weather will hold and we'll get a sneaky one later in the week.

So 11 am this Sunday at Bushy weather permitting.Check out yesterdays Mike V mini ramp session, He has to be one of our favorite skaters with a great mix of old school, new school and his own flare.

"It's Been two day and still no word"

Sorry but the 4th of July must be the worst week possible at work so we have been forced to miss a couple of days.So its the same old story of get down to Bushy (not Graystones after the last run in we had with Fight Club) this Sunday for a bit of a skate. Its a shame it started to rain last time because the place was almost empty. So with any luck we'll have the same this weekend. Does any one know of an in-door park being built ??

I hate him,I hate him,I hate him......

Eamon the lucky son of a b*#@%>. is going to the US on a family holiday but he's going to make time for a skate.Damn him to hell.So just to make things worse he's taken to sending us links to all the skate parks he's going too......

Man it hurts to see all the great park they have over there, it show how we really are in the dark ages of skateboarding here. But we're just getting ourselves upset so here are the links so you can curse him too.

"He's Alive....."

"He's a live.."
Good new Edd will live to shred another day. The nice men and women in white coats kept him in for a few days but they finally send him home with a clean bill of health. oh and one hell of a black eye and a nice scar over his left eye to remind him of his short and violent visit to "Fight Club".I must say thank to JahEerie i had forgotten they called Graystones that. Its a mean place we've love the "bad fengshui" both very appropriate. Our buddy Eamon sent us this link to Santa Monica Airlines a very cool old school deck shop at $60 a deck we're in love check it out

First sign that your possessed to skate

The first sign that you have a problem is that when the ambulance driver is strapping you into a gurney and your first word to him as you slowly regain consciousness after being out cold frothing at the mouth and fitting in a pool of your own blood for 5 minuets your first words are "Am i alright to skate"
All we can say is that if it wasn't for that fact that's this is how our skate day ended thanks to Graystones lethal banks of Death you would never even think it was possible. But as poor sod Edd who had came all the way from the North just to almost kill him self just as we where padding up.
He rolled up the top of the banks twice and looked over the edge but we had no idea that he was going to go for it. What the hell...no one dose both banks....
But that's what he tried (tried is the word) now he's sitting in St. Vincents hospital with a head injury that almost 48 hours later still have the doctors worried.SO fingers crossed they'll discharge him over the next few days and he's make a speedy recovery, but what a day 6 hours sitting in A&E not knowing if he's going to make it or not.
So after 2 weeks yearning to skate we got about 10minuets wit John in Bushy and that's was it so with any luck we'll get together some time next week
